Ultimate Juicy Turkey Feta Burgers Recipe

Fully assembled gourmet turkey feta burger with bacon and avocado served on a white plate with a side salad.

There is nothing quite like firing up the grill for a batch of homemade burgers, and if I’m being completely honest, this is hands-down the best recipe I know of for juicy turkey burgers. If you’ve ever ended up with dry, bland turkey patties that fall apart on the grill, this recipe is about to change your life!

I’ve been making these turkey feta burgers for years. While I wrote down specific measurements in the recipe card below so you have a solid baseline, I usually cook completely off instinct:

Minced Garlic: I probably throw in a bit more than just a tablespoon because you can never have too much garlic!

Feta Cheese: I definitely measure with my heart. Toss in whatever amount feels right to you—that salty, creamy bite of crumbled feta is what keeps these patties rich and amazingly juicy.

The Secret Toppings & Sides

Freshly prepared toppings including crisp lettuce, crispy bacon, avocado slices, and caramelized onions.

To bring everything together, I loaded these burgers with a few of my absolute favorite ingredients:

The Buns: I used Dave’s Killer Bread Burger Buns. They’re super tasty, hold up well to a heavy burger, and leave out a lot of the unhelpful fillers and additives found in standard buns.

The Mayo: Being raised in the South, I admit I’m pretty biased toward Duke’s Mayonnaise—in my book, it’s the undisputed premium mayonnaise! (Fun fact: if you want a lighter swap, they even make an olive-oil-based version, but classic Duke’s is essentially just eggs, oil, salt, and paprika).

Runner-up: I served a church mission in Chile several years ago, and over there, they hand-whip their homemade mayonnaise until it’s absolutely perfect. Chilean homemade mayo might actually hold the crown for the best mayonnaise in the world!

The Mustard: I’m normally a classic yellow mustard guy through and through, but spicy brown mustard really works magic here. The tang cuts through the rich bacon and feta perfectly.

The Side: On the side, I paired this with a Kale Crunch Salad Mix from Sam’s Club. It’s quick, super tasty, mostly healthy, and adds a great crunch to the meal!

My wife, Sarah, and I are actually planning to transition toward a more Whole Foods Plant-Based (WFPB) diet moving forward. But every now and then, a real food craving strikes—and I was just really craving a proper, flavorful turkey burger!

Meal Prep & Freezing Tip

This recipe makes a generous batch, which is a huge win because these turkey feta patties freeze exceptionally well! I had plenty of extra patties after cooking for my wife and me, so I froze the rest for an effortless weeknight meal down the road. Just shape the patties, wrap them tightly or separate them with parchment paper, and freeze until you’re ready to grill.

1. Combine the Patty Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, feta cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, and olive oil. Gently mix with your hands until just combined—don’t overwork the meat!

2. Shape: Divide into equal patties that match the size of your buns. And then, on both sides, finally add a coating of Montreal steak seasoning to each patty. It’s perfect for beef or turkey burgers!

3. Grill: Preheat your outdoor gas grill to medium-high heat. Grill patties for 5 to 7 minutes per side until nice grill marks form and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  1. While I appreciate your love for food, I think that what the world needs more right now is fasting, prayer, penance. Those who have their fill now; as is Mary’s own words, “they shall be sent empty away.” Read her Magnificat, and reflect upon her words. Then find sorrow in your heart for those who are hungry, looking upon your beautiful photographs of turkey burgers, and then look at their empty tables.

    1. Thanks for reaching out, Macgirl40k! I actually appreciate the thoughts shared and I will fast tomorrow. That’s a great idea! 💡 And thanks for the compliment on my beautiful photographs of turkey burgers. 🙏

      1. In fasting, we strengthen the will to suffer; but fasting is best done with the meal of a prayer, which begs God for faith, hope, charity; humility, purity, love of God, and love of Mary.

  2. I love your blog for the adventure, nature, and food! I meant to comment on the toasted cheese post, because I do love a good gourmet sandwich. But I have to confess: an occasional Velveeta on white bread, like when I was a kid, still hits the spot too! Haha.

    1. And by the way, I really enjoyed your Trail of 10 Falls post! Interestingly enough, a friend of mine just did that hike a few weeks ago! He inspired me enough to add it to my list of future hikes! I’m a sucker for waterfalls, OK and anything nature really. The video at the end of your post is really cool too! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Genius!!! I love lamb! 🐑 Years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to mint jelly, coupled with Lamb, and it’s never been the same sense! Amazing! 🤩 As for mincing it, I never thought of that! And with feta! Awesome!

Perhaps the most unusual meat someone minced for me once was when they made Manta Ray burgers! It was during my mission for my Church in Chile years ago, and it was amazing! Freshly caught from the ocean, 🌊 and it tasted meaty and slightly fishy. What they didn’t tell me was that you can only eat the wings of a Manta Ray, and not the body, as that part is poisonous, and could be fatal!!!
