Superman 2025: A Hero’s Heart and Our Shared Humanity by Jared Harding Wilson

The Superman movie of 2025, with David Corenswet soaring as the Man of Steel, left me inspired and deeply moved. This isn’t just a superhero blockbuster—it’s a raw, human story that hits home, reminding us that even the most powerful among us face doubts, fears, and the weight of being human. I went into the theater a bit nervous, wondering if this reboot could live up to Superman’s legacy. Spoiler alert: it was awesome, delivering a fresh, heartfelt take that I can’t stop thinking about.

My favorite moment comes through in this powerful quote from Superman:
“I’m as human as anyone. I love, I get scared. I wake up every morning, and despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other, and I try to make the best choices I can. I screw up all the time, but that is being human. And that’s my greatest strength.”

This line hit me hard. Here’s Superman—able to leap tall buildings and save the world—yet he’s wrestling with the same emotions we all do. He loves, he fears, he makes mistakes, and he keeps going. That vulnerability, the movie tells us, is his greatest strength. It’s a beautiful reminder that being human means embracing our imperfections while still striving to do what’s right.

For me, this resonates on a personal level. There’s a moment in the film where Superman feels judged, down, and like a failure—and I know exactly what that feels like. It’s a horrible, heavy weight, like the world is pressing down on you. I’ve been there, and it’s not easy. But seeing Superman push through those moments, choosing to keep moving forward despite the pain, was incredibly uplifting. It’s a reminder that we can feel broken and still be strong, that our struggles don’t define us—our choices do. No matter what mistakes or failures you’ve had in your life, you can come back and do much good in the world!

This message applies to all of us. We all have our own strengths, talents, and abilities, but we also carry struggles. Like Superman, we can get better every day, learning from our mistakes and growing through our challenges. The movie encourages us to give ourselves permission to be human—to mess up, to feel deeply, and to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Lex Luthor, darker and more menacing than ever, adds another layer to the story. This version of Lex is a true force, almost a reflection of Superman’s inner battles. In a way, Superman’s greatest enemy isn’t just Lex—it’s himself. His doubts, his fears, his choices. That internal struggle makes his victories all the more inspiring, showing us that heroism means pushing through, even when you feel like you’re failing.

Superman 2025 is a love letter to resilience and humanity. It’s a call to embrace our vulnerabilities, to keep striving, and to find strength in our shared human experience. Whether you’re a lifelong Superman fan or new to the story, this movie will leave you empowered to keep going—no cape required.
